عملت باحثة في معرض بدايات: بدايات الحركة الفنية السعودية، معرض مفصلي يتناول المرحلة التأسيسية للفن الحديث في المملكة العربية السعودية. طُوِّر ضمن مبادرة بحثية امتدت لعامين، بإشراف هيئة الفنون البصرية بالسعودية، مع تركيزٍ خاص على البحث الأرشيفي، والتاريخ الشفهي، وتوثيق الفنانين، بهدف تتبّع نشوء الممارسات الفنية الحديثة في مختلف أنحاء المملكة
يضمّ المعرض أكثر من 250 عملًا فنيًا لـ73 فنانًا وفنانة، تعود إلى الفترة ما بين ستينيات وثمانينيات القرن العشرين، إلى جانب مواد أرشيفية نادرة عُرض العديد منها للجمهور للمرة الأولى. نُظِّم المعرض عبر محاور موضوعية تتناول مفاهيم الحداثة، والحياة الاجتماعية، والطبيعة والمنظر الطبيعي، والرمزية، وممارسات روّاد الفن الحديث، حيث يُبرز بدايات البحث الأرشيفي كأداة قيّمة مركزية في حفظ وتفسير الإرث البصري للمملكة العربية السعودية
I worked as a Researcher on Bedayat: Beginnings of the Saudi Art Movement, a landmark exhibition examining the formative period of modern art in Saudi Arabia. Developed through a two-year research initiative led by the Visual Arts Commission of Saudi Arabia, the project foregrounds archival research, oral histories, and artist documentation to trace the emergence of modern artistic practices across the Kingdom.
The exhibition brings together over 250 artworks by 73 artists, dating from the 1960s to the 1980s, alongside rare archival materials, many of which are presented publicly for the first time and organized through thematic sections addressing modernity, social life, landscape, symbolism, and the practices of key modernist pioneers, Bedayat positions archival research as a central curatorial tool in preserving and interpreting Saudi Arabia’s visual heritage.
